Community Convening and Coordinating

JobsFirst NYC unites stakeholders around critical issues on a regular basis. This ongoing dialogue leads to informal and formal partnerships. Coordinated projects emerge where everyone—providers, employers and local officials—benefits from and becomes part of the solution. Community convening also leads to improved program quality and open discussion on retooling the system to better prepare young adults to fill the labor needs of businesses.

Current Projects

  • The JobsFirst NYC Community Based Organization (CBO) Network currently includes more than 60 direct service providers and other interested organizations. During quarterly meetings, members share information, explore collaborative approaches, and discuss effective strategies for improving outcomes for young adults.

  • We have launched a citywide advisory group to facilitate communication and coordination between service provider leaders and JobsFirst NYC. These meetings help shape our approach and focus.

  • JobsFirst NYC leads local neighborhood meetings to help communities examine existing services and coordinate their efforts to achieve more powerful results.

  • We host stakeholder meetings to address how to approach issues such as low literacy rates, and lack of skills training among out-of-work and out-of-school young adults.

  • JobsFirst NYC creates opportunities for government agencies to interact with service providers through coordinated meetings.

  • We manage an email notification system, which communicates timely announcements about member organizations' opportunities, and events to JobsFirst stakeholders.

  • As a part of the Intermediary Network (INet), we serve as a conduit for the New York community, to and from nationwide intermediary organizations.
